The Incredible Apple iPod - The World’s Most Innovative MP3 Player

Tuesday, November 8th, 2005

Now let’s take a 60GB iPod photo, which has a lovely colour screen. It also allows you to store thousands of photos. It’s easy to use interface allows you to browse through your pictures at an impressive speed. You can connect the iPod photo to your television and use the slideshow. .Imagine what it’s like to always have say a months worth of non-stop music playing in your back pocket. Being able to play this music on your home or car stereo .Or through your headphones in the train or on your bicycle.

If you like an mp3 player at the size of a packet of chewing gum, the iPod Shuffle is the answer. At the moment they come in 512 MB or 1 GB size, and a 2 GB and 4 GB iPod shuffle have been announced. Don’t be fooled by its small size as it sounds just as impressive it’s bigger brothers. The iPod shuffle has no LCD display like the iPod, iPod mini and iPod Photo. The iPod mini is a smaller colourful version of the normal iPod and come in 4GB and 6GB at present.

Not only the iPod itself is fantastic, but there are literally tons of super cool accessories available for this device.

For instance, one accessory called Roadtrip, made by Griffin Technology, is a dock you can fit in your car. The dock has a built in FM transmitter and will send out the music being played by the iPod through an FM signal. My car radio picks up the signal and blasts it out my car speakers.. How cool is that?!! You simply get in your car, slot in your iPod and turn the ignition key and off you go. The Roadtrip draws its power from the cigarette lighter. It can also draw its power from USB. That way you can use it to route the sound of your computer to your home stereo.

Another accessory for instance is AirClick, a remote control for your iPod or iPod mini. You can even get card readers so you can transfer the photos from your digital camera directly to your iPod. How handy is it to have 60 GB of storage with you if you like photography?

Since I bought my iPod I have been enjoying music more than ever before! I would like to recommend it to any music lover, its well worth the money.]]>

The Money Trail - The REAL Secret to Making and KEEPING Money In the Music Industry

Thursday, November 3rd, 2005

From Ted Nugent to TLC to John Fogerty and Prince, problems with contracts and record companies, accountants and lawyers seem to plague musicians in every era of the evolution of popular music. Do you ever wonder why it happens like that?

Well there are several plausible explanations.

* The eagerness to get going. A young performer or band finally gets that break and has a chance to make a record or get on that break-through tour. In their eagerness to land that all important contract, they agree to some deals that cripple them for decades to come.

* The Wrong Self concept. When an artist is starting out, he or she will tend to see themselves as an amateur with a hobby. Few young performers see themselves as professionals and as successful performers down the road. So when the chance to get a recording contract comes, they have little to loose. That ן¿½what the heckן¿½ attitude can lead to foolish spur-of-the-moment decisions that you can regret months or years later.

* Bad advice. Like it or not, there are crooked people in the world. If your management or accountant is not looking after your best interest, they could easily guide you in a way that is not good for you career. The result could be lost money to you or even the inability to play and perform when your career is in full bloom.

DOING YOUR HOMEWORK

The time to research how the money flows in the music business is not after your first big hit and in the middle of your first big tour. No, even though you may not yet be a huge star, now is the time to get an understanding of the nuts and bolts of the business side of the music business. Here are some topic areas that are worth some research on your part:

* How does an artist get paid for his work in the music industry? Research recoupments, royalties and what you can expect as you begin to get creative material on the market.

* What is the role of the music publishers, Performance Rights Organizations and your management? How much is their ן¿½cutן¿½ and how can you know if they are treating you fairly?

* How can you set up your financial systems so that the money due to you will be safely paid to you even if you are not around to manage it and so that it will be safely cared for and invested.

* Who can you trust and how to verify that you are dealing with solid business people who are looking out for your best interest?

* What about investments? If you begin to see a significant amount of money coming in, should you leave it sitting in a checking account or buy The Dallas Cowboys? Seriously, what kinds of investments are best to protect and grow your financial holdings?

* How do you work with an accountant? Are certain accountants better at dealing with musicians than others are and how to find a good one that you can depend on?

* How do you track and keep tabs on your money even if you are on a busy touring or recording schedule? What kind of reports should you have delivered to you and how should you get them? Is this a place where the internet can help?

Some of these questions you can research by reading articles or online But donן¿½t overlook the knowledge of those who have already set this up or been trough certain ordeals. Discuss these topics with successful bands and musicians and get some references and tips on how to handle the flow of money that will come once your art is discovered.

LEGAL JUNK

Try as we might, there are a lot of legal documents and lawyer stuff involved with a successful musical career. Part of building a business relationship with your agent, your record company, touring agencies and many other business that will be part of your team as your career expands, you will have to deal with that dreaded word]]>

The Record Industry Continues Battle Against Free Music Downloads

Thursday, October 27th, 2005

The recording industry claims to have lost 25% of it’s revenues since computer, so called thieves, have been using peer-to-peer file-sharing networks to obtain free music downloads.

The two latest file-sharing companies to be targeted by these copyright lawsuits are Grokster Ltd, known for its Grokster file-sharing software and StreamCast Networks Inc. from which the Morpheus free music downloading software is distributed.

Unlike Napster, Grokster and Morpheus put a spin on the popular file-sharing phenomenon. Instead of indexing the shared files like Napster did, these file-sharing products enables it’s network members to build their own indexes – thus allowing others within the network to download free music and movie files.

While some musicians are protesting they are being cheated by these illegal free music downloads – others are speaking out backing how music, movies, pictures and copy are being shared over the Internet.

Some music lovers actually use the file-sharing networks to check out an artists latest release before paying up to $18 for a CD that may only have one good song on it. You still will have those that will never make a purchase and continue to take advantage of the free music download networks.

Many file-sharing network users have said that using these networks is good for the music industry. File-sharing can bring listeners to smaller, independent bands that they may not otherwise hear on radio or in the mainstream.

With the likes of Apple’s iTunes store many have turned their backs on file-sharing networks paying 99 cents per song – Apple claims to sell more than 1 millions songs everyday. Although iTunes is limited still, thus giving file sharing networks a void to fill the unlimited access to music and movies that may otherwise not be able from iTunes.

In late 2003 record companies started suing individuals that were downloading free music. With file-sharing networks like Grokster and Morpheus it will be much harder for the recording industry to track down files that are uploaded by individual users.

With the Supreme Court now involved they are expected to make some type of ruling in June 2005 on what if any action should be taken against the makers of file-sharing network software.

The wrong decision could discourage the future development of products like the iPod or other file-sharing software programs that could be used for legal purposes.

Since Grokster and Morpheus do not monitor or have any knowledge of who or what is being downloaded, a federal judge in Los Angeles and the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals rejected the copyright infringement charges against both these file-sharing networks.

Based on the 1984 ruling of the Supreme Court that stated the use of Sony Betamax, which allowed users to make copies at home of copyrighted TV programs, was legal.

The recording industries angle last week was that the approach companies like Grokster and Morpheus are making by advertising their software will provide access to free copies of copyrighted materials should allow them to be sued and shut down.

While the jury may be out on this one for sometime – file sharing networks and free music downloads will continue with most users not really worrying about getting sued, since most do not download free music in excess of a few files per month.

Tim Mcgraw Tickets

Tuesday, October 18th, 2005

When we think of country music, a traditional sort of music comes in our mind consisting on sad songs with stereotype tangy accents. But for sure Tim Mcgraw alone stand and proved it wrong. He actually gave a new dimension to country music. And nothing less can be said about Hill. Tim and Hill are very much alike in many aspects. Their backgrounds as well as their professional growth echo each other’s life. McGraw’s parents never married. His mother raised him; he didn’t learn who his father was till the age of 11. He took his biological father’s surname at the age of 18 years. In the same way unfortunately Faith Hill was also not raised by her parents. Her mother gave her up for adoption after her birth, she was afraid to tell her family that she was pregnant out of wedlock at such an early age. Maybe these stark realities of life determine Tim and Hill to not let their stardom to hinder with their home. Hill started searching for her mother in the early ’90s when she moved to Nashville to pursue music. Tim also came to Nashville having big dreams in his eyes.
Like any other struggling artist Hill also did a couple of odd jobs and finally her first break-through comes in 1993. She was working in the office of Starstruck Entertainment, Reba McEntire’s talent management company. One night Hill sang at a famous Nashville club. A talent scout in the audience saw some potential in her and signed her up. Hill’s break came in 1993. “Wild One,” her first single mounted to the top of the country chart and stayed there a month. Since Connie Smith in 1964, she was the first debut singer who accomplished this. Her first album, “Take Me As I Am,” was a major hit too; it sold a couple of million copies. Her first album earned her 1993’s New Female Vocalist award from the Academy of Country Music. Hill’s second album “It Matters To Me,” which came out in 1995 did even better at the cash register.
On the other hand, McGraw didn’t initiate pursuing music until college, when he bought his first guitar and taught himself to play it. He dropped out of school in 1989 and headed to Nashville. His father tried to talk him out of going, but he argued that Tug himself had also quit college to follow his dreams in baseball. At that point his father agreed to help him out. McGraw launched his first debut album in 1992, which wasn’t a great hit. Though his second Album had three singles, including “Don’t Take The Girl,” all went to No. 1 and a unique, novel tune called “Indian Outlaw” became an immediate hit. This was the first step towards the dazzling path of success.
Later after the year of Hill’s second hit album in 1996, Hill met McGraw when they played 140 dates together. They got married on that very October 6 in 1996, and then Hill took 18 months off to start a family and relive her life anew. About this she says: “I’m married to my best friend. I have a wonderful husband, who I’m madly in love with, and I have two beautiful little girls that have made life everything, besides music, I want it all.” And no doubt they both are blessed with fame and the homely comfort at the same time, of course the credit goes to both of them. Then she resumed her music career in 1998 with huge success of “Faith”. It seemed like she poured out her soul in this album even more than ever. She undergoes a matured transformation during this period; she no more gives an image of “country girl” and even admits it. Hill says: “I’m through with what I call the little-girl-going-away-from- home theme in my songs, it’s time for me to express myself differently.” And the listeners felt the striking difference in the next up-coming album that includes a mixture of countryside music along with other styles.
Just in tiny winy period of six years, Faith Hill has sold more than 11 million records, harvested eight No. 1 singles and ten No. 1 videos. Only this year, she received incalculable nominations and statues from the Country Music Association, the Grammy Awards, the Academy of Country Music Awards, Blockbuster Awards and TNN Music City News Awards. She celebrated the colossal crossover success of her first platinum single, “This Kiss,” which culminates with her appearance on the 1999 VH1 Divas Live, where she was sharing the same stage with Tina Turner, Cher and Whitney Houston. She was also named the newest face for CoverGirl Cosmetics and charmed the cover of several magazines like Country Weekly, People, TV Guide and Glamour.
Moreover, Tim’s song “Live Like You Were Dying” in 2004 and 2005 has collected every award it was nominated for- CMA & ACM Single and Song of the Year and also Country Song of the Year at the Grammy’s. On the whole, Tim’s achievements are as remarkable as they are numerous: 9 albums spawning 25 #1 singles and selling 33 million copies, tours that consistently rank near the top in financial and entertainment terms, a number of awards including a 2001 CMA Entertainer of the Year nod, 2 Grammy’s and the 2004 People’s Choice Award for Favorite Male Musical Performer. He is one of only three men ever to grace the cover of Redbook, his NBC Live Concert Special in 2002 soared higher than specials by U2 and Paul McCartney, he was the headline act at the 2003 Nobel Peace Prize Concert, and in November 2004 made a astral major motion picture acting debut with a role in the Universal/Imagine film “Friday Night Lights” with Billy Bob Thornton. His second NBC Concert Special aired Thanksgiving Eve 2004 winning the night for the network. In 2005 he was adorned with Grammy for Country Album of the Year for “Live Like You Were Dying” and song nominations, his duet with Nelly, “Over and Over,” has stayed on the top on Urban charts for 12 weeks. McGraw carries on his celebrity cabinet board membership with the American Red Cross in 2005.
Many artists have achieved great permanence or marvelous levels of success, but Tim’s career has indeed been remarkable for the way in which fame and success have been intertwined for so long. Tim’s decision to reinvent a major share of his career, merging road and studio into a flawless whole, really paid off. Isn’t it impressive? This is not the end; it is just a beautiful and graceful pace of a magnificent highly talented couple towards a glorious tomorrow. Well they are dignified on individual levels but together too they have several hit duets on their credit. And a fascinating event that is the tour Soul 2 Soul, which they did in 2000 and now once again this historical event is going to be held in 2006 coming April. Those who couldn’t get a chance to experience the last spectacular tour can enthrall themselves this time. Get ready for the magic that’ll leave you breathless by Tim Mcgraw and Faith Hill.

Tips on buying guitars.

Sunday, October 16th, 2005

1. It depends on how much you can afford.

With such a wealth of guitars available, a working person shouldn’t have a problem finding one that fits their budget. But this doesn’t mean that you should settle for anything. As the old adage goes, you usually get what you pay for. Usually the more money you invest, the greater the returns. You’re going to be spending a lot of time practicing so choose an instrument that you can enjoy. An instrument that you can look forward to playing.

2. What style of music will you be playing?

The style of music to be played should influence your choice of guitar. For instance if you plan on playing rock you should buy an electric guitar, since Rock music is better suited to be played on that type of guitar. If Jazz and blues is your thing you may prefer a semi-acoustic guitar from the start. An acoustic nylon string guitar may be better suited to classical music and smooth Jazz.

3. Child or adult.

Are you a parent looking to buy a guitar for your child? Consider buying a 1/2 size or 3/4 size guitar. Your child doesn’t have the reach that an adult has, so these smaller guitars are better suited. Regular size guitars will be more difficult to play and can cause a lack of interest.

You may also want to look into buying an electric guitar for your child if you can afford it. They have a small neck and very light thin strings and are therefore easier to play. If money is an issue
a second hand electric guitar may be the answer.

4. Wood type and its relation to tone.

Although there are no rules for choosing guitar woods, there is a guide that you can follow. Generally, darker woods produce a brighter tone while darker woods produces a deeper, richer tone. Medium tone wood like mahogany produce a very even smooth sound spectrum. You should compare various wood colors. The best thing to do is to listen to the tones that a guitar produces before deciding.

5. Pay attention to the guitar’s features.

Your guitar must have certain important features. Don’t simply focus on looks.

For example, your guitar should have die-cast machine heads (or tuning gears). With this feature, you will be able to tune your instrument more accurately and your guitar will stay in tune longer.

A solid top is also very important. A solid top usually consists of 2 solid matched pieces glued together side by side. This is of better quality than a laminated top where various woods are glued together on top of each other. With a solid top the guitar’s tone will be more even and accurate and you can expect a sustaining vibration throughout the guitar’s body.

6. Buy a guitar that feels good to you.

You’re the one who will be playing that guitar. So you’d better buy one that feels comfortable to you, whether you’re sitting or standing. For instance, if the strings are too far from the fretboard, playing will be difficult. An expensive guitar that is not comfortable is a waste. Spend time with the guitar before deciding.

7. The bottom line is sound.

If it sounds good, buy it. No two guitars can ever be the same. It’s never about looks. It’s about the sound that is generated through the use of the right type of wood and through superior craftsmanship.

You should be able to find a guitar easily online. You can order one that suits your needs today. Some of the best guitar prices can be found on the Internet. You even get free shipping to your door.]]>

Tips on buying used pianos.

Saturday, October 15th, 2005

Inspect a used piano rigorously. Perhaps much more thoroughly than you would if it were a new piano. Play every key with the right hand pedal depressed so as to get a true impression of the tone. The keyboard, hammers, and pedals shouldn’t squeak. Are the hammers and strings in good condition? Is there rust and dirt?

Check the keys for looseness. place your finger on the front of a key and move it from left to right and vice versa. It shouldn’t move more than 1/16″ in either direction. Pay particular attention to the middle keys since they are played most often.

You can even ask who the previous owner was. A serious pianist would usually take better care of his instrument.

Find out how old the piano is. The brand name and serial can be used to trace the piano’s age. Be wary of pianos that are more than 20 years old.

Pianos age far more quickly than other strung instruments like violins and guitars. Their strings create a lot of stress on soundboards, bridges, and pin-blocks. Pianos have lots of mechanical parts unlike violins and guitars, and mechanical parts wear out as they are used.

But while age is important, your primary focus should be its condition. Compare the used piano with similar pianos. Make a new price comparison based on resale market value.

If the piano appears not to have been abused and is of a good price you can probably leave a deposit subject to approval by a technician. If you’re working with your tuner find out whether he or she is also a technician. Some tuners are not technical and have no real knowledge of the mechanical system of pianos.

The technician may be able to tell you the approximate value of the piano in its current condition, as well as the estimated cost of repairs, if any. Based on your knowledge, you may then choose to offer the seller a price.

You can check out a used piano online today.]]>

U2 Tickets

Tuesday, October 4th, 2005

17 th March 1978 was an unforgettable day for U2 as they got their first major break by wining a music talent contest on St. Patrick’s Day in Limerick . One of the judges of the contest was Jackie Heyden working for CBS Records. Observing the electrifying performance of the boys, he became an immediate fan of U2. It was Jackie Heyden who first took U2 to the studio for recording their debut demo. Although it was not so successful it was still a real confidence booster for the young men.

Their thrilling music and breathtaking performances soon managed to amass crowds of dedicated fans. Through the combination of devotion and passion they rose to be the most popular rock and roll bands of 80’s. The zealous struggle of U2 allowed them to nab a respectable place in the music world during the era of synthesized pop and heavy metal music.

They launched their debut album in 1979 with the name “U 2 three”, which grabbed the top place in Ireland music charts. Later when it was released in England , it was a disappointing failure.

The next year was filled with extensive touring worldwide for the band. In a couple of years two of their albums were in the market, naming “The Boy” and “October”, and the boys were now recognized in Ireland . Nevertheless, U2 really hit the big time with the release of their album “War”, released in March 1983. The “New Year’s Day” single became chart topper in England .

U2 was on the flow and their records were selling like hot cake throughout the world. Their 7 th LP “The Joshua Tree” did record breaking selling in England and remained the big seller in 22 other countries. The fame of U2 was swelling uncontrollably and they amassed millions of dollars from world over.

Next albums were “Achtung Baby”,1991, “Zooropa”,1993, “Pop”1997and their latest album ” How to Dismantle a Atomic Bomb”,2004, which are still remembered by millions of rock music lovers.

There has been no deterioration in the fame of U2 till the present day. Several U2 concerts are still due during this summer in Spain, England, France, Italy, Holland, Switzerland and other European countries. Millions of fans are excited about these concerts all over the world, as can be judged by the fact that most of the tickets have been sold out.

U2 has been maneuvering the rock music scenario constantly for over two complete decades which is an achievement of sorts. They have chartered success on their own terms on both the artistic and business sides in the music industry. And it seems apparent to thousands of their fans that their sun of limitless fame might never set!

Video capture software for AVI and WMV

Saturday, October 1st, 2005

It’s not certain that the audio CD that produced excellent sounds in the MP3 would perform equally well on the home theater system at the house. Problems eventually arise when you eagerly switch on the computer to view some of the pictures recorded on the handy cam or when you want to listen to some rare and favorite sound track on the computer. After all the endeavor to attach the cords and devices you find that all the efforts was to only find the computer display a message that it did not support the format in which information was supplied to it and hence could not do anything with the audio or video. Believe me its very frustrating when such incidents happen. Usually one has to just sit back, get frustrated with the technology and miss their very rare favorite sound track. One desperately wishes that if they had some thing in this world that could change the format of the file and make the file work on the device they had.

Blaze media pro is a perfect solution to all these problems and now you don’t have to miss viewing your much-loved pictures and hearing to the best of tracks just because the format in which they were stored was different. Blaze media pro is a blessing for a techno freak. Now none needs to pay a huge ransom to the technical experts for just changing formats of simply editing a little piece of information. All types of changes and inclusion or deletion of any part of the recording is only a click away. Blaze media pro has very exhaustive tutorial and extremely easy steps to perform all manipulations that are desired on video or audio files. It’s easy to follow steps enables even a novice to easily handle all the technicalities involved in the process.

Many software’s promise to provide an easy way to convert audio and video files from one format to another but with most of the services there’s a limit that they can only perform one specific task that they had assured. Now each time one requires a different type of format exchanging they have to rush and mess with another device. Blaze media pro brings an end to all these hurdles in the way to universal access of information. It offers an one stop venue for all the your digital requirements. What better can it get than, that it’s available free for trial for 15 days on net and can be downloaded easily.]]>

Where To Download Music On The Internet

Wednesday, September 21st, 2005

Method 1: Try out Free Music Sites

There are many free music websites which provide free music downloads. It is not the websites of your music pirates - it is completely legal. Do not expect to find full albums to download, particularly if the song is from a famous artist (only music pirate websites allow full album downloads). You’ll only find a couple “teasers” intended to produce you wish to purchase the artists’ Compact disc. Independent, less well-known artists are an exception - many of them will let you down their complete song catalog to promote themselves.

Just here are a couple of the free music websites which I personally recommend:

* AMPCAST.com

* Amazon.com Digital Music Downloads

* RollingStone.com

* ElectronicScene.com

* The Internet Underground Music Archive

Method 2: Purchase Music Online

An increasingly popular way to find and download music online is to head for legal online music services. The virtually all popular of these is the Apples iTune service. Now it will bring across 400,000 songs from all 5 major labels. Every song is available for a standard cost of ninety-nine cents every. Right here are the best online music services I have come across:

* EMusic.com

* iTunes

* MusicMatch Downloads

* Napster two.zero

* Rhapsody

* Weblisten.com

Conclusion

It’s incredibly tempting to employ KaZaa and more file sharing programs to download music - however please do not. If you wrote a song and sold a Compact disc, would you be happy to see hundreds to thousands of people distributing that song for free? No. You do not have to break the law to find and download free MP3 music. There are many websites out there offering free music - you just want to find them.]]>
